NLP is often referred to as "an owners manual for the mind",
the abbreviation NLP stands for:
- Nuero - How the mind and
body relate to each other.
- Linguistic - The relationship between
how we think and the language we use.
- Programming -not actual
"programmes" but how our behavioural patterns effect what we do and how we can change them to improve.
Admittedly the name NLP in full is a bit of a mouthful, but it could be said, almost in-spite of this,
it has grown in strength over the last 30 years. This is because the techniques have proved successful for people from all
walks of life and like all things that work it gets recommended.
NLP is a collection of models, techniques and attitudes that allows its users to
affect positive, beneficial changes in many different areas of their life or business. Some example of these are:
- Relationships - Improve rapport and understaning with a loved one, a friend or colleague.
- Habits or Phobias - Banish unwanted habits like smoking or phobias such as a fear of spiders.
- Limiting Beliefs - Rid yourself of beliefs such as "My relationships always fail" or "I can't
make enough money" and replace them with positive ones like "I am successful".
- Goal
Achievement - Techniques to help you loose weight and keep it off, get fit and stay fit, earn the money you deserve or the
life style you want.
- Business - Improve communication between members of a team or with clients, increase
sales by learning how your customers make buying decisions, have you and your whole team motivated to succeed.
The
list above is just the tip of the iceberg, please feel free to contact us to find out how it can help you.
To use an analogy, NLP is like
a socket set in a workshop full of tools, it can be used in a lot of varied and useful ways, and just like a socket set you
wouldn't use it to mow the lawn!
What I'm
expounding to, is NLP, like any tool needs to be used at the right time in the right way. It has many uses across business,
coaching, personnel development and therapy and it can be used in conjunction with other tools such as Time Line Therapy or
Hypnosis, or in business with Belbin Team roles etc.
